For now, Kosovars remain relatively stuck, obedient to a dysfunctional government and plagued by the problems that come with it, including unemployment, ethnic tensions, and mass poverty.
However, Kosovars have made the best of the situation. Beyond the region's intense and complicated history exists an artsy, funky country (with great coffee, a lot of it!), and a population so full of passion and life.
It's that part of Kosovo that has completely captured my heart and filled my soul with curiosity.
