¡Bienvenidos! (Welcome!) My name is Lenda, and I was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. I’m 21 years old, currently studying International Business and Spanish at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. This spring, I’m studying abroad in Bilbao, Spain, and it’s already been the most life-changing experience!
I’ve always dreamed of studying abroad, and Spanish has been my favorite subject since high school, which ultimately led me to this amazing opportunity! It was a little intimidating at first, not knowing anyone and being in a country with a different language, but I am so glad I took the leap. I hope my journey can encourage others to step outside their comfort zones and embrace new experiences.
I was also fortunate enough to receive the Gilman Scholarship, which has been incredibly helpful in covering my study abroad expenses. Thanks to this scholarship, I’ve been able to not only immerse myself in life here in Spain, but also visit other cities and countries. As part of the Gilman Scholarship, I’m required to complete a follow-on service project, and I’ve chosen to participate in the Reach the World program. I’m so excited to begin sharing my experiences with all of you!
