Witnessing their playful dispositions, their dexterous trunks and their family-oriented lifestyle in the flesh was something I will never forget. In addition to elephants, I saw zebras, meerkats, mongoose, buffaloes, jackals, as well as many of the same animals I saw at Kragga Kamma. My nine-hour game drive at Addo fulfilled all the expectations of an African safari and more. Although, again, I did not see any of the legendary predators in their natural habitats.
Overall, admiring each of the aforementioned creatures in the wild will always be a resonating aspect of my time in South Africa. Each animal’s size, patterns and power remind me of how beautiful and severe nature can be. The struggle for survival is, and will always be, agonizingly gorgeous.
