This week we got a short break from what is normally a bright, sunny, 95 degrees + weather. A cold front came in, and the entire city has been enjoying the cooler weather. This came with a bit of rain as well, and all the trees and plants are enjoying the extra water. I’ve been spending many mornings outside enjoying these cooler temperatures, and I hope they stay with us for a while before the harsh sun returns!
With the cooler weather, more animals are coming out of their homes to enjoy the cloudy skies, rain, and cool temperatures. Close to the building where I teach on campus, there is a family of burrowing owls that make many appearances in the cooler weather. It feels like such a gift to see them! The birds are also rejoicing in the cooler weather, and they have been extra chatty in the mornings. I can hear morning doves, kiskadees, and yesterday as I was having breakfast, I saw a hummingbird, a group of parakeets, and even a parrot from my front yard!
