Jordanian Traditions

Appearance is very important.
  • Lastly, nearly everything (such as eating, serving coffee, etc) should be done primarily with the right hand. For example, when eating mansaf (the national dish of Jordan), you should use your right hand and put your left behind your back.

    Why does the community have this tradition?:

    Many of these traditions revolve around hospitality and community. For instance, it's customary in Jordan for people to live with their families until they get married or have to move out because their workplace or school is far. This helps to keep the family together, as community and family is essential to Jordanian culture. 

     

    Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

    I don't believe any of these traditions are related to the environment. However, Arabs have a strong connection with their land.
