Hi, I'm Marcus. I was born in Long Beach, California and I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. My father is from Mexico City and my mother is from Cambodia, a country in Southeast Asia. I'm an undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno studying Sociology, Journalism and International Affairs. It's my last year in college, so I aim to really make the best of it. My focus has been towards developing my multimedia journalism abilities. Over the past few semesters in college, I have been hosting my own Internet radio show, writing news articles, shooting videos for my YouTube channel and lately, I've been taking lots of photos. After college, I would love to be an international multimedia journalist. Doing this for you as a Reach the World traveler plays a big role in this goal.
I've always had a strong interest in traveling. I had never left the country and hardly ever left the West Coast on the United States until I was about 20 years old, so my interest just continued growing as I got older. During my senior year in high school, I reached a tipping point. I had to leave. I found that the University of Nevada, Reno, about 450 miles North of Nevada, was a reasonable first step. It wasn't much of a jump, but it was something.
