Fulbright Opportunities and Experiences

The most random part of the trip was when we were also taken to a small exhibit displaying a mummy and its artifacts. Finally, we were taken to the Esterházy Mansion which was built between 1743 and 1784. It was a beautiful home with vast gardens outside that were sadly too cold to explore. But inside we saw many pieces of furniture and artwork from the family’s history. I learned so much about Hungary during this trip, including the value of arts and traditional craft practices. I also witnessed the inner workings of the political system. All of these group programs have helped me and the other Fulbrighters to understand Hungary today and Hungary in the past.

Above all these trips have brought me so much closer with my fellow Fulbrighters. Living abroad can be extremely isolating and it is vital to be able to find a community to lean on when it gets hard. Because of these trips I have shared experiences to bond over with the other Fulbrighters. Sometimes it’s marveling over the incredible views of cities we visit and sometimes we bond over freezing on our walking tours. I am so grateful to the Fulbright Program for planning all of these events and dedicating the time to help me and the other American students learn more.

I truly believe that anyone can find a path to Fulbright if they so chose... I hope you pursue your own path to cultural experiences and understanding like this.
