The Buddha is an important religious figure for many Chinese people, so I think it could mean that the mountain is sacred or that this symbol is to grant safe passage for people as they travel along the Great Wall. I wondered about this figure's history and how long it had been around for.
There are many spots for people to visit the Great Wall because it is so long. I went to the Badaling area of the Great Wall and it was very busy. Next time I visit the Wall, I will go to a different part that is less popular. One awesome thing about my visit was riding up to the Great Wall in a carriage. I had a really nice view of the Wall and surrounding mountains. Also, the carriage is pretty fast so it feels like a fair ride. However, there was menacing sounding, fast tempo music playing that I didn't quite like.
