For this trip, I traveled from Shanghai to Beijing on a high-speed train. The trip was a little over four hours and we traveled about 750 miles. That means the train goes over 200 miles per hour! I also had a bus ride from the city of Beijing to the Great Wall and that took about two hours.
In addition to the 7,000 miles I flew from Michigan to Shanghai, I have traveled over 1,200 miles within China visiting many cities and attractions.
I used several modes of transportation this week to travel to and around Beijing. This included the high-speed train to get to Beijing and the metro in the city. Sometimes, my group also rented a bus to go farther outside the city.
The most interesting place I visited was the magnificent Temple of Heaven in Beijing. I thought the architecture was amazing and the significance of the area was meaningful to me. The Temple of Heaven is a holy place that was used by people to pray for a good harvest. Now, it is a place where people pray for good fortune and thank their ancestors for their blessings.
