The first language I learned to speak was Spanish. Both of my parents are Mexican. I was born in Los Angeles, California and learned to speak English in preschool. At home, I always spoke Spanish, and at school, I always spoke English. To me, it was normal to switch from one language to another. At an early age, I would sometimes translate from English to Spanish for my mom, and I liked feeling helpful. It was then that I realized how crucial languages really are, and I always asked friends who spoke other languages to teach me a few words. To this day, I still remember the basic vocab they taught me.

Once I was in college, I decided to learn a new language, so I enrolled in a French course. Although I found it challenging, I realized I really enjoyed learning about a new language and culture. I told myself that if I ever had the opportunity to study abroad, I would go to France, so I could utilize and enhance my new French speaking skills. I'm really looking forward to all the French conversations I'll be able to have pretty soon. I also can't wait to take you along with me!
