A Trip to Paris

This last week, Jenny and I traveled to Paris, France so that I could visit some archives there. In the three days we were there, we enjoyed many sites in the "city of lights."

What you see here is a traditional "French breakfast" - including a stick of bread and a cheese croissant with coffee and orange juice.
The resilient Notre Dame, one of the world's most famous cathedrals, is undergoing renovations since its 2019 fire. The panels have been erected for the state's cleaning crew to purify the façade of lead contamination.
The Eiffel Tower by day is more impressive than it seems in this photo. Though famed for its debut at the 1889 World's Fair, did you know every inch of it is repainted every seven years? The process takes 18 months and is done almost completely by hand!
One of the many beautiful ceilings in the Louvre Museum. Few people know that, even before this sort of ornamentation was added, the Louvre was originally a fortress completed by King Philip II in 1202.
The meals on the menus at the Louvre's cafés are very elegant. Here is a picture of Eggs Benedict.
One of my favorite exhibits at the Louvre, this Egyptian dagger was crafted in 3,300 BC, and features on this side the hierarchy of men at war: At the top are soldiers with daggers, below them are soldiers with spears, and... (see next)
...below them are fallen men. Lowest of all are the dead. On the other side, you find man within the hierarchy of animals. At the top he has trained lions, then dogs, then herd animals, and lowest of all are beasts.
A perspective of Notre Dame at night. In its preparation for the 2024 Olympics, the city plans to have completed the restoration for a new wave of tourists and pilgrims.
