Saturday’s Candy

Introduction:

Do you like candy? Swedish people love candy!

What tradition did I learn about?:

Swedish people have a whole day for candy. Every week on Saturday, it is candy day! In Swedish, it is called Lördagsgodis (pronounced lore-das-goodies) and loosely means "Saturday candy." Godis, which is said like "goodies," is the Swedish word for candy. There are candy stores all over Sweden. In fact, Swedish people eat more candy every year than any other place in the world!

Why does the community have this tradition?:

A Swedish dentist did a study. He found that if you eat candy on only one day, it is better for your teeth. Even if you eat the same number of candies as you would have eaten for a whole week. What do you think about that?

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

Now, do you want to visit Sweden to try their yummy candy?
