As I am approaching my final days in Argentina, I want to take time to reflect on this wonderful and sometimes challenging experience. I am grateful for these past four months in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I am even more grateful that I ventured outside the city exploring the provinces of Buenos Aires, Río Negro and Cordoba. I had the opportunity to meet Argentines who live many different lifestyles.
If I could do it all over again, I would. Pipa, my amazing host mom, has made this experience very beneficial. Pipa, my roommate and I only speak Spanish in the apartment. I also have been able to go on many excursions with Pipa, from tango shows and music symposiums to fashion houses. Pipa is such a lively spirit, and I know we will see each other again.
However, everything was not always glitz and glam. I had to know when to stick up for myself in Spanish. I have gotten sick in Argentina three times and have had a couple of embarrassing trips on the subway and bus, but I got through it. In a city of over 12 million people, it is easy to feel lost.
