Over three months have passed since I arrived in Spain for the unforgettable experience of teaching and living abroad! While I still have six months to go, I feel like I have already changed so much. I have done things I never thought I would be doing, like modeling for a thrift store, playing a muddy game of American football in a Spanish city and, of course, sitting front row to watch one of the most popular sports teams in the whole world, Barcelona, play a match.
I have also been managing the challenging but super rewarding task of teaching subjects I have no education or background in, like dentistry, chemistry, audiology (the study of hearing) and even autopsy (the study of dead bodies). If you told me a year ago that I would be teaching these subjects to students my age in Spain, I would have instantly felt the butterflies in my stomach. But I have learned to grow and adapt, and each day I get more and more comfortable. Getting to see the smiles on my students' faces when I walk in or when they remember a specific English phrase I taught them a week ago makes it all worth it.
But most of all, it has been the amazing people I've met during these three months that have made the experience so special.
