Sun, Heat, Desert - Be Careful

Introduction:

The country of Botswana is well known to be an environment that creates habitat for some of the most exotic animals on earth.  These are the animals you think of when you think of Africa.  They include: baboons, monkeys, crocodiles, elephants, zebras, wildebeests, water buffalo, hippopotami, giraffes, warthogs, jaguars, cheetahs, rhinoceros and lions, among many others.  The majority of the distributions of these famous animals are located near permanent waterways and deltas.  Deltas are places where a river ends. One of the most famous deltas in the world is here in Botswana and is called the Okavango.  The Okavango river delta spreads out and ends "in-land", and just stops.  From above it looks like the end of a broom with the widest part being where the delta ends.  Many deltas end in the sea, but this one ends in the desert.  The water in this part of the country is plentiful in the wet season and modest in the dry season.  This fluctuation causes the animals to migrate and move toward water sources.  The Okavango delta is the reason why many people visit Botswana, as it provides a high likelihood of viewing some of the many animals that make Botswana their home.  This area of Botswana is different from the other areas, as these areas have less water.  Therefore, they have fewer large animal populations.
