Hi guys! I cannot wait to meet you all in a couple of weeks. I was told you all love food, which is great because that just might be my greatest joy in life! Before coming abroad to Florence, Italy, I cooked most of my own food because my hometown doesn’t have very many restaurants. I’ve been here for four weeks now, though, so I’ve gotten to try lots of new restaurants and dishes - many of which I was skeptical of at first but ended up loving.
Since I’m in Italy, it’s probably no surprise that some of my favorite meals so far have involved pasta. My birthday was earlier this month, and all of my friends and I went to a restaurant called Zaza. So many people had recommended it that I was a little worried it might be a tourist trap, but when we got there I was pleasantly surprised by how lively and welcoming it felt. The restaurant was packed with people talking, laughing and eating, the workers were signing another table happy birthday and there was delicious food everywhere I looked. There were 15 of us, so we made a deal to order different dishes so everyone could try something new.
Growing up, my grandma always made me her signature pasta with red sauce. It's very simple, but it's still one of my favorite meals.
