It is hard to believe that I have already been in Warsaw over a month! Since September when I first arrived, the temperatures have dropped as the leaves changed to vibrant shades of orange and yellow. While I am still finding my footing with living in a new country, I am excited to make progress with my research project during my Fulbright grant!

At the e-MPAT Lab (e-Mindfulness, Psychotherapy and Technology Lab) within the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Psychology, my work investigates how familial legacy of World War II trauma shapes emotional regulation and somatic or bodily embodiment in Polish descendants. This is a vital area of research as Poland has one of the highest post-traumatic stress disorder rates throughout Europe, and trauma continues to impact subsequent generations.

In my first month of research, I refined and presented my research proposal and timeline to my lab group. Currently, I am in the process of completing my Ethics Committee Application, which overviews all the components of my project and must be submitted before starting the actual research. I have been working incredibly hard to edit and finalize it since I had to revise components of my project based on feedback from my supervisor.
