This week, we started an activity called "Coffee with Olivia" where the other teachers at my school come to have coffee with me during one of the breaks and we speak English. It was a lot of fun to get to know the teachers better and help them to improve their English.
One of my school placements got a shipment of new books for the library this week. One of the new books is called Los Niños del Humo or The Children of Smoke. It is a nonfiction book about Aller! In the past, Aller and most of Asturias was known for its mines. During that time, everyone who lived in Aller worked in the mines. This book tells the stories of the first generation of children who will not work in the mines because the majority of these institutions have been closed.
My schedule changed this week, and I found myself with a large chunk of free time in the middle of the day. I used that time to go for a run through Moreda, one of the towns I teach in. On my run, I got to know the town a little bit better, and I discovered a beautiful nature trail!
