Trevor Siyoni is my neighbor in our rural Zambian village. He is 14 and very motivated to get the primary school's soccer team in good shape for our upcoming tournament! Trevor is also a bit shy to be interviewed but really happy that you are reading his words.
My name is Trevor Siyoni.
I live in Zambia's Southern Province. My mom makes a fire around dawn so I can wash up and cook some corn or sweet potatoes before school. My sister helps sweep the yard and my brothers and I take care of the cows and get water from the river or hand pump with buckets and a wheelbarrow. Our houses are made of homemade bricks, and some are roofed with tin sheets while others are roofed with thatch. There are four houses where I live, including an outdoor kitchen. My older brother built another house 100 meters away on our land when he was ready to get married.
I have two brothers and one sister.
I walk to school and take the canter to and from town. I also get rides on the back of my friends' bikes.
