From the short amount of time that I’ve been here, I have noticed that the locals try to save as much money as possible. Everyone lives frugally. My landlord told me that utilities are expensive here. She advised me to only turn on the central heating system when it is truly needed. This might be a reason that public transportation is so prevalent here. It might be a way to cut costs.
Another great attribute of the locals here is that they are very conscientious of the environment. Recycling is very important here and everyone participates. Everyone is aware of their carbon footprint, and they try to reduce it as much as possible by carpooling or riding the bus.
