Interview with Steven

Introduction:

Steven is a 17-year-old from Rwanda who shared what his life is like, from school and chores to what he does for fun. He also talked about his goal of becoming a doctor and what he thinks about life in other countries.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

For breakfast, Steven eats amandazi (similar to donut holes), and he likes eating rice with some type of meat for lunch and dinner.

What is your house like?:

His house is made of mud bricks and it has three small bedrooms, an outdoor kitchen and a big living room where his family spends most of their time.

What chores do you have at home?:

Steven mops the floors daily and sometimes he helps his mother to cook dinner. 

What jobs do your parents have?:

His mom works at a nearby restaurant.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

He arrives to school at 6am and leaves at 5pm.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

He walks to school every day by himself.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

During the week, lunch is provided by the school and it's usually a corn and bean mixture. On the weekends, Steven likes to eat rice and meat (his favorite foods).
