Mounir taps into a water source over an hour away in order to run his business. His pipelines run through the villages and brings them much needed water.
The owner of the polo field is trying to shut Chez Mounir down so that he can use all the water to keep his field green. They are in a legal battle over who has the right to use the water supply and how it is affecting the surrounding environment. Water shortages are a problem in other parts of Morocco as well. In Tetouan, where I live, I didn't have running water for three months in the fall because of a drought and the mismanagement of water.
