Hola, estudiantes! Our time together has come to an end, but my time in Colombia continues. Over the last year and 7 months, I have settled into my Colombian life, but I keep learning every day from my experiences here. I am grateful to all of you for listening to my stories so far and asking valuable questions about my experiences. Those questions help me reflect on what it means to be a traveler, as well as a teacher.
Here in Plato, we are in the midst of our second period and the work is piling up! Just like all of you, the kids are preparing for final exams and the dreaded ICFES exam (like the ACT/SAT equivalent). The collection of photos for this final goodbye are some of my favorites from the last couple of months. I haven't left my town much lately, enjoying the peace of staying in, taking care of my cat, and soccer on the weekends. Everyday here feels less like travel and more like I have built a second home.
Looking towards the future, my work here is far from over. I’ll continue teaching English while hopefully expanding my work with a newly built university in town. As for my career goals post-Colombia, I have my eyes on the horizon, with plans to go back to school for a Master's in Economics.
