One of the biggest differences I've noticed while living in Florence is transportation. Back home, I'm used to driving almost everywhere, but here I've had to get used to walking, taxiing, taking public transportation and finding my way around new cities.
In Florence, people mainly get around by walking, biking or taking buses and trams. When I travel to other cities or countries, I usually take trains, planes, taxis, Ubers or long-distance buses like FlixBus.
At first, it was definitely a little overwhelming! I'm so used to having a car and knowing exactly where I'm going, so figuring out public transportation in another country was a big adjustment. Now I actually really enjoy being able to walk almost everywhere, although I definitely miss the convenience of having a car sometimes. I think driving in Florence would be the death of me, though. The roads are all one way and wouldn't even fit a standard American school bus!
