One day, I hope each of you gets the chance to see a new place for yourself. Maybe you’ll walk down a street older than the United States, try a food you’ve never heard of before, learn a few words in a new language,or make a friend from across the world. Travel doesn’t just teach you about faraway places; it teaches you about who you are, too.
Stepping out of your comfort zone is one of the most important ways to grow. Traveling alone to places where I don’t speak the language and don’t look like the people around me has taught me courage, adaptability and confidence. Every time I push myself to try something unfamiliar, I discover new strengths I didn’t know I had and build community with amazing people.
