Czech food preparation often involves hearty meat-based dishes, including dumplings, soups, sauces, mushrooms and root vegetables.
While a lot of Czech food has meat in it, there are also many great vegetarian options (no meat), as well as access to fresh, seasonal food. Every Saturday, I go to my local farmer's market (called Naplavka Market) and buy bread, fruit (my favorite fruits to buy right now are plums and apples), and fresh eggs for the week. Naplavka Market is located right next to the Vltava River in the center of Prague, and gets quite busy. The farmers are very proud of their food, and it is nice to hear them talk about their farming process.
