The hostel where I was staying (like a cheap hotel where you share bedrooms and bathrooms with other travelers) plays a lot of older American music. I listened to Etta James and Sonny and Cher, among others. American and British music is popular here, especially older groups like the Beatles.
I loved hiking up the volcano, but just hanging out in the hostel was fun, too. I got to meet a lot of new people from all over the world who speak many different languages. One of the travelers from Argentina even helped me with my biology homework!
I did a lot of reading in Spanish for my biology class. We even had homework to do over the weekend when I was traveling. I am also practicing my Spanish by reading the Spanish version of an Artemis Fowl book. It's very tricky because some of the characters' names are changed, too!
I didn't really play any formal games this week, but I did go hiking. Many people consider hiking to be a sport (or at least a physical activity)! Here, they refer to it as "trekking."
I feel like I am really settling in at home in Santiago, and I am eager to return to my host family. I was disappointed to have homework this weekend while I was traveling, but I really enjoy my classes. I am even making some Chilean friends, who I will see when I get back to Santiago.
