Pasta Alla Carbonara - The Dish of Rome

The consistency of the pasta was different than what I was used to because the egg yolks and lard made it almost slimy, but it was still really good!

How is the food prepared?:

Carbonara is made with spaghetti, egg yolks, pork, lard, cheese, salt and black pepper. The cheese can vary depending on who is making it, but people usually use pecorino romano or parmesan.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

You can find pasta anywhere in Italy and it is a very important part of the Italian cuisine and diet. Italian pasta is often made by hand by mixing flour, eggs and salt. Pasta is amazing because it is such a delicious food that can change easily depending on what form it is shaped into and what flavors and sauces are added to it!
