The Great Asian Elephant!

If they are lucky they will also eat fruit and other farm crops.

Elephants are also very smart and can live up to 80 years old. Their intelligence level can be like that of apes who are extremely smart. Walking them through the jungle every day and watching them harvest food was so cool.

Their skin is very rough and thick. It feels like sandpaper. They also often tossed dirt on their bodies to cool down and make bugs go away. When I put my hand on them, I could feel their power and strength.

Where does it live?:

Elephants live in the jungles of Thailand and throughout Asia. In Thailand, many also live in elephant sanctuaries or camps with mahouts, or elephant trainers responsible for looking after their elephant and building a deep bond with them. This makes sure the elephants are well taken care of and protected from poachers or aggressive farmers. A mahout usually only takes care of one elephant at a time. Because of this the mahout and elephant form a deep bond like a dog and its owner. In fact, sometimes the mahouts would teach their elephant a few tricks. My favorite was when the elephant would use its trunk to suction cup my face as a little kiss. It never failed to make me laugh.

How does it use its environment to survive?:

Elephants have been known to use tools to help them survive in the jungle. This can look like using sticks to dig or scratch hard to reach areas of their bodies, stacking things they can stand on to reach food that is high up and even disabling electric fences!
