The volume of gas that passes through the gas clock and the flow rate of the gas over time is continuously recorded by a computer and displayed as shown

This device connects to a pH probe (left) and dissolved oxygen probe (right) and continuously records the data being measured by the probes during experiments

The pH of the liquid in the reactor should be kept around 7 (neutral) for the bacteria to live

The optical coherence tomography device uses light waves to create 3D images of the bactera growing on the anode disk in the MEC

Bacteria growing on the anode disk in the reactor give the black disk a red tinge. Gas produced via electrolysis and by the bacteria floats to the top of the reactor and collects in pipes that connect to the gas trap and gas clock
