Some other differences I've noticed is that people here hang clothes to dry after washing rather than putting them in the dryer. The clothes take longer to dry this way, but it is a more manageable and environmentally friendly approach, which makes me happy. Tote bags are also used for all types of shopping, not just for groceries. I will definitely take this habit back to California with me. I also noticed American products tend to be a little more expensive in France. For example, I ordered a coffee and cookie from Starbucks which cost me at least 2-3 times more than what it would have done in the U.S. It was okay though since these treats were delicious!
I'm so happy with my decision to study abroad because in doing so I've become more aware about the little differences and similarities between these two cities that have both been home to me. Discovering different perspectives is one of the main benefits of travel.
