Recognizing Different Perspectives!

My friends and I all made sure to wear modest clothing and be as respectful as possible to the culture that accepted us with a warm embrace. Although this may seem like a difficult task, it was actually very easy and all it took was a little bit more thought in the morning when I decided what I would wear for the day. I really loved this because it encouraged me to be more creative with my outfit choices, and it was good because it was winter in Jordan so I definitely wanted to dress warmly!

Another perspective that I found very interesting and decided to bring back with me to the United States is the belief that families should eat their meals together. In the United States, meals are often rushed and there never seems to be much time to sit down and enjoy homecooked food with family. However, this is a practice that is prioritized in Jordan. Families come together every morning, afternoon and evening to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner together. I greatly enjoyed this habit and loved sitting down with my friends in Jordan and eating a delicious meal together. People also make their food together as a family and sit down and eat together after they have all finished helping. This way of eating together is extremely important to Jordanians, and is a perspective that has taught me so much about both myself as well as my eating habits back home in the United States.

Ultimately, Jordanians are very friendly and kind, and they love spending time with their family and friends and their respect for shared meal-times reflects that. I loved getting to learn more about the ways in which Jordanians view the world and these are just a couple of perspectives that stood out to me as being really valuable.
