My name is Heather, and I'm so excited to share my adventures with you all the way from Switzerland! Like many of you, I grew up in Rhode Island, right in Cranston, which is just a short drive from your school.
When I was about your age, I started exploring the world of science and engineering. During my high school years at Cranston West, I joined a robotics program. It sparked my love for science and technology, which I carried with me all the way to the University of Rhode Island. There, I studied Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics and even German!
One of the coolest parts of my university life was joining the International Engineering Program. This allowed me to live in Germany for a year – my first time living so far from home! Germany is an amazing place, and studying there helped me see the world in new ways, as I also had the opportunity to visit over other 20 countries!
After graduating from college in May 2023, I started a new adventure with the Fulbright Program in Bern, Switzerland, where I'm exploring the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medicine. I mainly work with computers to help doctors and nurses take better care of their patients. It's like having a smart helper that never gets tired.
