I also relearned some things that I had been saying incorrectly for my whole life. I cannot express the impact that this trip has had on my language abilities. I hope that one day you can also experience this level of comprehension.
Traveling changed me in all the best ways. I learned about independence, patience and collaboration. I met people who became lifelong friends and contacts. My worldview was challenged, and I became a better person because of it. It was scary and, at times, incredibly difficult. I missed my family and my normal life. I especially missed New York State apples in the fall. But I was able to overcome the challenging aspects to get to the amazing parts. One day, you could do that too.
You all are very capable students. With a little dedication and hard work, you too could have the experience of a lifetime. Never stop learning and being curious--these two traits will take you very far in life. I implore you to search for travel opportunities in the rest of your high school career and especially in college. You will not regret it. My one last piece of advice is to keep learning Spanish. I know that learning a language is difficult. I think the hardest and best part is knowing that you always have more to learn. Language is always changing, and it will change you for the better. Keep with it, keep learning, keep exploring. Thank you for sharing this journey with me. ¡Hasta luego chicos!
