Hello partners in Sudan! I’m Abby, and I will be meeting you alongside my best friend and travel companion, Josh. Josh and I have been traveling together for 10 years now, and together we’ve visited eight countries. Next year, we plan to visit five more!
In addition to traveling the globe responsibly, Josh and I are passionate about trekking. These passions are what led us to make a 30-day trek through Nepal, all the way to the base camp of Mount Everest! That trek was one of the greatest experiences of our lives, and today, Nepal is our favorite country.
But Josh and I have one more passion: working with children. This is something we both discovered while teaching English for three and a half years in Vietnam. During our time in Vietnam, we learned that education is the most powerful tool we have for creating opportunities and that every child--no matter where they live, or how much money they have--has the right to receive a quality education.
Throughout our lives, we have found that learning through experience is one of the most powerful teaching tools on the planet. We believe that experiences like interacting with diverse groups of people, being exposed to different cultures, and even international travel have the potential to provide students with the knowledge they need to become engaged citizens of the world. We believe this because it’s exactly what happened to us, and we can’t wait to share more of our journey with you!
