Iquitos: The Vibrant Jungle City

The gastronomic culture of Iquitos includes a colorful variety of food influenced by foreign immigration as well as its Amazonian roots. Some of my personal favorite Amazonian dishes include Juane, rice and chicken wrapped in a bijao leaf; tacacho, fried banana balls, and cecina, a regional meat that tastes like bacon. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Iquitos, in order to experience this amazing city with a complex history, jungle culture, and extraordinary food.
