How far did I travel this week?:

This week, I traveled to Cajamarca, an important city during the Incan empire. In order to get there, I first took an hour and a half flight from Iquitos to Lima, and then another hour and a half flight from Lima to Cajamarca. It was not an easy journey, but it was definitely worth it!

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

In late September, I took my first trip to Lima, the capital of Peru. Lima is one of the gastronomical capitals of the world, and I had a great weekend trying new and delicious food. I then visited Huaraz, ground-zero for outdoor-adventure in Peru. While there, I spent many days hiking in the Cordillera Mountain range.

How did I get around this week?:

I have two options to get around the city of Iquitos: a mototaxi or the bus. This week, I took advantage of both! Mototaxi’s (or tuk-tuks as we call them here) are motorcycles with a carriage attached for the passenger, while our buses are large vehicles made of wood with direct routes. I usually take the bus to work, which cost about three soles (75 U.S. cents) each way. However, if I need to go somewhere far or fast, I take a tuk-tuk.
