Since I am living in the Southern hemisphere in Australia, the seasons are opposite of those in the Northern hemisphere, so I excitedly welcomed the first day of fall on Friday, March 1st. With an air temperature of 55°F early this morning, I was jumping for joy at even the slightest hint of cooler weather to come. You see, while living ten minutes from the beach in a seemingly never-ending summer is definitely not something to whine about, this now perpetually sunburnt Vermonter is looking forward to cooler days ahead! Plus, the daily afternoon rain showers on my walk home from work are definitely putting a damper on things.
P.S. Did you know Australia's ozone layer was severely thinned by ozone-depleting chemicals in the 1970s, so there is increased U.V. radiation here, which means the sun is literally brighter here!
