Just like in the U.S., the Australian legislative body is made up of a Senate and a House of Representatives. However, they also have a Prime Minister, here, as well as a governor-general who represents the British monarch. Inside the Parliament building, there was a beautiful large atrium with marble floors and white walls with displays of Australian artwork. We also checked out the Great Hall which had the largest piece of artwork and is a space that is mainly used for large gatherings.
Did you know Australians drive on the left side of the road and the driver sits on the right side of the car? These two facts took me a while to adjust to, especially because I could not, for the longest time, figure out which way to look when crossing the road! Another interesting thing about Australian roads is that they often use roundabouts at intersections instead of stoplights.
