Hi everyone! My name is Aiden Klass, and I am from Oak Park, Illinois, a medium-sized town just outside of Chicago. I am an only child, so growing up my closest companions were my dogs. As a kid, I loved riding my bike, playing sports like basketball, tennis, soccer, and running, as well as playing chess and video games with friends. Like many of you, I also enjoyed classic recess games such as tag and wallball.
In high school, I began playing the guitar and decided to focus more seriously on tennis, playing on the varsity team all four years. I continued playing tennis in college, which led me to attend Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. There, I majored in computer science, but because Grinnell is a liberal arts college, I also explored a wide range of subjects, including Spanish, sociology, philosophy, English, and mathematics, taking at least three courses in each.
My interest in traveling abroad was shaped by a semester I spent studying in Amsterdam during the fall of my junior year. I studied there for four months and not only enjoyed the experience of living outside the United States, but also discovered a passion for travel. One of my favorite courses, AI Law and Ethics, turned out to be one of the best classes I took in college.
I have been studying Spanish since I was five years old and wanted to continue using and strengthening my language skills. Because of this, I decided to join the Peace Corps and move to Paraguay, where I will live for two years in a small community and be fully immersed in a Spanish-speaking country.
