May 2019: Election Time in Europe!

By giving each culture and region a lot of authority it allows each group to make rules they agree with. This is similar to the United States, where each state is allowed to set their own rules for their citizens. To select their officials, Belgians select candidates through a voting list. Every party creates a group and will seat them based on the votes they get. For example, they can appoint a Member of Parliament for every 10% of voting they receive since there are 10 spots. I have been writing a research paper studying American and Belgian elections. For the paper, I have drawn upon my experience working on American campaigns to compare how democracy in the United States works to Belgium. I am learning more by reading political discourse and social scientists.
