Hola de Sogamoso (Hello from Sogamoso)! My name is Alexandria Rodriguez. I am a born and raised Houstonian, currently living in the beautiful country of Colombia. I am the youngest of six and am the daughter of multicultural parents (a German mother and a Mexican father). Celebrating culture has been an important aspect of my life since childhood. During college, I won scholarships and studied abroad in three different countries (Thailand, India, and Costa Rica).
After spending 11 years in college and graduate school, I wanted to go beyond the classroom and continue my growth in language and cultural immersion with a Fulbright Scholarship. I am currently applying to medical school and hope to use the skills I have acquired as an English Teaching Assistant to better help me serve diverse populations of people as a future global health provider. As a first-generation college student, I am passionate about mentoring youth, especially helping them get into college and winning scholarships to fund their college education and study abroad experiences. For fun, I love to dance ballet, volunteer, play chess, and listen to spooky podcast stories. A fun fact about me: I am the proud aunt of 17 nieces and nephews. I also brought my 6-year-old chihuahua (Captain Butler) with me to Colombia.
