Hello! My name is Alisa and for the next nine months I am living in Moldova! Moldova is a small country in Eastern Europe, located between Romania and Ukraine.
Although I was born in Chicago, Illinois, I consider Portland, Oregon to be my home. After graduating from university in Texas, I applied for a Fulbright grant to be an English Teaching Assistant in Moldova, the country where my Mom is originally from! I was very lucky to receive this grant and have been enjoying every day in Moldova since. At university, I studied Political Science, so I am very interested in how governments affect our daily lives. While only 35 years old as an independent Republic, Moldova has a unique history which has been shaped both by its Romanian heritage and its years in the Soviet Union. I am excited to take you on a journey of learning about Moldova, a country you may not have heard of before!
To share a little bit about me, my family has moved around a lot during my life, so I am used to change. In college, I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain and absolutely loved it! I wanted to explore a different part of the world while impacting the lives of a new community. Through teaching, I help my students improve their English while sharing bits of American culture! Follow along on my journey to learn what life in Moldova is like!
