Hi, everyone!
My name is Atiya Byrom, and I'm currently a senior at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. I'm from South Georgia, Cordele specifically. It's a very small country town, but I love the simplicity and peacefulness that comes along with being able to hear the birds chirping in the morning and to grow food in your own backyard. Plus, a lot of my family still lives there!
I love to write and have been doing so since I was six years old. I started off writing songs, then I eventually began writing fiction stories, and now I write screenplays! I love film and television and hope one day to see one of my projects on the screen.
Part of my desire to study abroad stemmed from wanting to gain new perspectives for my stories. While in Italy, one of the most significant things I learned is that what you consider to be normal here in America isn't necessarily the same for other countries. We all have different beliefs and values that make us unique, and learning about cultures different from your own helps you to become more empathetic towards those unlike you.
One of my goals is to return to Milan (and places in other countries, too!) and live abroad, this time for longer.
