Hello! My name is Allison and I am from the up-and-coming town of Frederick, MD. I grew up in Maryland, but I'm not fond of the cold, so I headed south to West Palm Beach, FL for my undergraduate studies. I wasn't sure what I wanted to study at first, but then I settled on biblical and theological studies with a minor in English. I really enjoyed learning the ancient Koine Greek language that the Bible was originally written in, and discovered that I have an appreciation for linguistics, which just means studying how languages work. I also had the opportunity to volunteer to teach English to Arabic-speaking adults. Going to college was important for me because I learned about the different subjects and activities that I am passionate about.
It was at college that I learned about the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program. The Fulbright Program seemed like the perfect program to travel and develop my professional skills. I chose to apply to Bulgaria because my great, great grandfather was from there and I would have the opportunity to learn the language they speak in that country: Bulgarian. I was honored when they offered me a position, and I am excited to share this adventure with you all!
