We also had delicious Italian food. The city was filled with tourists visiting for the event, and the positive, excited energy in the city was so much fun!
We also went to the Olympic Fan Village, where they had lots of fun activities for us to try! There you could try out curling, ice hockey and simulators of other winter sports. We also got to meet Tina, one of the Olympic mascots! She is a stoat, which is an animal kind of like a weasel. A group of students in Italy got to design these mascots. What would you pick as the Olympic mascot if you could choose?
That evening, we went to see a women's ice hockey match, where Team U.S.A played against Team Switzerland. Team U.S.A. won 5-0! There were many fans of both teams in the audience, and it was so fun to celebrate with everyone.
My favorite part of this trip was that there were people from all over the world who came together to celebrate these athletes' hard work. It was so special to see people cheering for all of the athletes, even if they'd never been to that country before. Even if an athlete lost, they would cheer on their competitors and congratulate them on their success. Seeing this level of support was so special, and I hope to go see another Olympic event someday!
After Milan, we took a train to Switzerland where we stayed for three days to continue our travels. We passed through beautiful mountains and small villages. I would love to live in one of the cabins that we passed by! We visited Interlaken first, where we rode bikes around a beautiful lake and went paragliding. Next, we took another train to Zurich, where we explored and enjoyed the beautiful city. We had delicious Swiss chocolate and cheese fondue.
