Here, There and Everywhere

Introduction:

Compared to other cities in Spain, Valencia is a very laid back city. Unlike the hustle and bustle of Barcelona and Madrid, the pace in Valencia is slow as people take their time getting around the city (They aren't known for being on time for events and meetings!). Still, there are many different types of transportation found throughout the city. Regardless of your choice of vehicle, you could be relaxing on Valencia's beautiful beaches, exploring art museums, or eating delicious tapas in no time.

How do people get around?:

Private cars and scooters are used in Valencia, but the majority of locals take public transportation to get around. In the heart of the city, you could see any of the following types of transportation:

  • EMT buses (local tram company)
  • taxis
  • double-decker buses
  • personal bicycles and bikeshares
  • metros
  • scooters
  • rollerblades
  • cars

If you want to access little villages outside of the city, boats and ferries allow you to travel back and forth. And, of course, people are always walking. The streets here aren't very big, and the architecture doesn't allow for expansions, so some plazas and shops are only accessible by foot.
