In Australia, public transportation is very popular! This includes buses, trains and trams. There are also a lot of people who will walk to destinations that are less than 30 minutes away. This is very different from back home where I am used to driving everywhere! Without a car, I had to learn very quickly how to navigate getting around Australia.
The primary form of transportation is the train. Millions of people use the Sydney trains to get in and out of Sydney. I use it to go to different parts of Sydney such as to the harbor, the zoo, and to beaches. Other forms of transportation are buses and trams. I utilize the buses and trams also to get around Sydney--for places that the train doesn’t stop at.
My friends and I enjoy walking around Sydney too. We will walk to nearby parts of town for dinner and to hang out. The ferry is less common, but still a useful way to get around! For my classes at the zoo, I take a train to the wharf, and a ferry from there to the zoo! The ferry can take you across the harbor to the other parts of Sydney, further beaches, and of course, the zoo.
