Khotso (Peace)! This is what we say in Sesotho, the local language here in Lesotho, when we want to greet someone. Welcome - I hope you are ready to learn about the Kingdom of Lesotho, a small nation inside of South Africa. I am working in Lesotho through a U.S. government agency called Peace Corps. My role is to work in a primary school as a computer literacy teacher to learners in grades 1-7. I enjoy my job but it can be challenging as we have almost 1,000 learners enrolled at our school, yet we struggle with a lack of resources, teachers, and sometimes even water. Nonetheless, the work is fulfiling and I feel like I am helping to make a positive change in the school and local community.
My name is Angela and I am from a small town in Wisconsin. I went to college in Illinois and studied International Business. After graduating, I moved to Turkiye, the Kyrgyz Republic, and now, Lesotho. I always knew that I wanted to move abroad and I have made so many happy memories and connections through my international experiences. There are countless U.S. government programs and exchange opportunities for youth and adults that can help you realize your dream of living, studying, or working abroad too!
I enjoy traveling and hope to continue doing so for as long as I can.
