Hello! My name is Ang and I am 22 years old. I was born and raised in the East Bay region of California. Four years ago, I moved to Los Angeles, where I completed my undergraduate degree at Pitzer College. As a political science major, I was fascinated by the decisions of local and state governments and which groups were or were not included in them.
The most exciting opportunity I had in college was spending a summer in Dublin, Ireland. I interned for the European Union and researched the possibility of shortening the workweek so that parents could have more time at home. During my stay, I shared a townhouse with five other international students and travelers. Many evenings were spent together in our tiny kitchen cooking meals and exchanging stories about our respective cultures. On weekends, we would take the Irish rail, double-decker buses, and even ferries to explore the lush, green Irish countryside. While I loved my job, it was ultimately the lifestyle I built with my housemates that inspired me to apply for graduate school abroad.
After recieving a Fulbright Scholarship, I will spend the next 12 months at the University of Toronto to continue my study of deliberative democracy or bringing citizens (like you) into policy decision-making processes. So far Toronto has been excellent — people are quite friendly and I've been walking nearly 15k steps a day! I am looking forward to watching the seasons change and sharing my journey in Canada with all of you.
